A beautiful day at Strathfieldsaye and we were to play at half time and after the game. We were all set up in the Hertz Rent-a-truck and we were rolled back in front of the huge crowd just as the half time siren rang. The looks on people's faces were fantastic! We began with five good rock 'n' roll songs, finishing with "Long Way to the Top" by AC/DC.
Our next set started after the final siren and we played a long set up until about 6:20 when the awards were given out and we had a quick bite to eat. Our final few songs were sensational with "Sweet Child of Mine" Ben's favorite. A fantastic crowd of about 7000 made this gig unbelievable - it's not often we will get that chance. Braidie's Tavern has become the hub of music in Strathfieldsaye as it has hosted many acts over Summer, concluding with a fantastic innovation named "Strathfieldsaye has Talent!" Many acts came to showcase their talent and Saintz were there on a number of occasions (acts performed in our breaks).
Bob and Marg did a great job organising the competition which eventually raised over $1,600 for the local Firefighters. Well done to all involved and Saintz are proud to have been a small part! Sat 7th of December saw Saintz play at the Catholic Education Office, Sandhurst's Christmas breakup function. We had added a few more songs to the list and went through the complete list (nearly) after dinner. The crowd enjoyed the music and we had a dance floor full of dancers and those who wanted to sing along.
Silks is a great function centre, located at the Bendigo Jockey Club. We were able to play to the dance floor and people were still able to enjoy a discussion on the dining area. People felt that the music was at a great level for all to enjoy! Our gig at Axedale Tavern went very well with lots of friends and family coming along to support and being pleasantly surprised! The mix of songs was appreciated as were a few comments of, "Oh, I didn't expect that one!"
From Axedale we played at the Newmarket Hotel - great supporters of live music and young groups just 'having a go'. We played with many other bands and although we only played 4 songs, we made an impact! Well, we are away and the feedback from both gigs shows that we are playing the right mix of music and people en Well, after so many months, our first real gig arrives on Sunday! Playing at the Axedale Tavern on a Sunday afternoon, many friends and family in attendance, it should be a great day! I will get back to you about how our debut went and how we were received. I am putting our new logo on the blog and even the flyer we are using for the first gig. As our practices have gone along, we have added many songs that you will love for your upcoming function. A quick look at our song list will show you that we can cater for a very wide range of musical tastes, and it won't matter who you invite, they will have something to enjoy!
Drop us an email, with all the details of your event and we will get back to you with a quote as soon as we can. You will be surprised when you compare our prices. Saintz |
